However, contrary to this article's snooty suggestion/undertone that "true football fans" shouldn't care that much about game modes or licenses, these things do matter. For the first time in a long time, I bought PES at launch instead of Fifa. I played that demo for PES 2016, and I was like "dang man, this gameplay is totally, clearly better that Fifa." So I switched horses. PES's lack of licenses always made it seem a non-starter to me, yet I kept hearing the gameplay was good, so I would download the latest demo over the years, say "meh", and go back to Fifa Career Mode. I really got addicted to Fifa starting in 2010, when such features were starting to get more robust. I too spend 95% of my soccer-gaming time in a single-player Career Mode / Master League mode.
